Meet Kharley Calabrese, our Boardman Training Center student highlight feature for this week!
Kharley is currently enrolled in the Medical Office Specialist program and has already completed the Cardio Phlebotomy program to get on the fast track to a new career in the healthcare field. She chose these Boardman Training Center programs for many reasons that are important to her and her future.
Kharley says she chose to complete cardio phlebotomy and medical office classes “to get better job opportunities, such as better pay and benefits, and also because I have always loved the health field and helping people.”
Before enrolling at Boardman Training Center, Kharley attended a larger university for hospitality management but then realized that field did not have the opportunities she was looking for, especially in the local area. The cost of tuition was also too high.
In addition to attending college, Kharley also works at a restaurant while completing her healthcare career training at BTC. “I always thought maybe the restaurant I worked for would be a good career, but then I realized I was settling for less,” said Kharley.
As Kharley realized that she wanted more for herself than her current job could offer, she made the decision to take her career to the next level by preparing for a job in the medical field.
She chose Boardman Training Center to fast-track her way to an exciting new career for a variety of reasons. “The prices were affordable, and the classes were great for my work schedule. Also, the classes were smaller, which is better for learning,” said Kharley.
Kharley is having a great experience as a student at BTC while completing her healthcare classes and training for a new career. “It is like my home away from home! The teachers are awesome and so are my peers,” said Kharley.
So far, Kharley says that Irene and Sandy have been her favorite teachers because they care about the students and make sure all your concerns and questions are answered.
After graduation, Kharley wants to work as a MA in a physician’s office or hospital. In five years, Kharley would love to have a well-established career in the medical field and possibly furthering her education.
When asked if she would refer BTC to a friend, Kharley said, “yes, because it’s affordable, the programs give you great job opportunities, and the instructors and staff are amazing!”
